Project Pico - the joy of finding the perfect knickers!

Project Pico - the joy of finding the perfect knickers!

I don't know about you but I spent my pregnancy in tatty cheap underwear from the bottom of my knicker drawer and my postpartum time wasn't any more nurturing, wearing synthetic stretchy bras that I could easily feed in and vaguely accommodated my ever changing breasts. I wanted to feel cherished and supported by the fabrics that adorned me so intimately but felt far from this and couldn't find a natural alternative that fitted a larger chest that I could fluctuate in.

Last year I was fortunate to buy my first set of Pico underwear from Small Folk in Totnes, Devon and I knew as soon as I put on the crop top I wouldn't want to wear anything else. Every so often I come across a brand that feels an all- rounder. Their organic cotton garments are so soft and well made and I had found an underwire-free crop top that fully supported my larger chest so comfortably, which is a very rare thing! This brand feels like it wears its credentials on its sleeve and feels as passionately about process as we do at Nona so I wanted to share a bit about them and why we love wearing their wears under ours!

Pico work directly with a small, living-wage paying factory in southern India, using organic cotton sourced from farmers' cooperatives. Their products are lovingly made and you can feel it in every wear. They also share a passion in natural dying and recently collaborated with natural dyer Kathryn Davey to create a beautiful one off collection of madder dyed essentials. You can imagine how excited we were about this! It's worth keeping an eye out for future projects. We love wearing this underwear under our Grace dress as it fits the body beautifully and promotes natural fibres and less chemicals against the skin which we are all for. The charcoal colour also works so well under the Indigo Grace dress as it doesn't show up any dye transfer. All in all we think it's a very happy marriage!
